5010-approved software allows for streamlined claims submissions and automatic updates

Dallas, TX (Dec. 7, 2011) – MedAct Software a provider of integrated business solutions for HME/DME companies, announced the release of MedAct 6.0, a new software version that is 5010 approved. MedAct 6.0 allows customers to make the 5010 transition when it is most convenient for them and provides enhancements to streamline the claims submission process. According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), all HIPAA-covered transactions must convert from ASC X12 4010 to the ASC X12 version 5010 by Jan. 1, 2012.

“We wanted to make the 5010 transition process as easy and non-intrusive as possible for our customers,” said Gregg Timmons, president and CEO of MedAct. “MedAct 6.0 allows each user to decide when to make the format change prior to the deadline. Our latest version also provides customers with an update to claims manager, which consolidates claims transactions, status and posting into an easy-to-use environment for an efficient and simplified submission process.”

In addition to the 5010 format change and the new claims manager, MedAct 6.0 also will include a new feature that will automatically notify users of software updates.

To aid each customer in the transition to the new 5010 process, MedAct is offering a free 30-minute session with customer support specialists to install MedAct 6.0 and the update to the 5010 version. Customers can continue to send and receive 4010 transactions, but will be required to convert to the 5010 format on or before Jan. 1, 2012.
